The Suzuki Method was created over six decades ago by Japanese violin teacher, Dr.Shinichi Suzuki. Suzuki applied the principles of learning a language to learning music, and made careful listening, repetition, teaching a little at a time, and positive reinforcement the cornerstones of his lesson plans.

To date, more than 100,000 children all over the world are trained by Suzuki’s method. The Suzuki Method has since been applied to other instruments including cello, viola, flute, piano and guitar. The Huntington Suzuki Music School offers Suzuki Method lessons in Violin, Viola, Cello, and traditional & Suzuki Piano.

  • Private lessons for all levels of study in violin, viola, piano & cello

Program Descriptions

Suzuki Method for ages 3 & up

Based on the method taught by Japanese master teacher, Shinichi Suzuki, our successful Suzuki program includes one-on-one private lessons as well as weekly group classes with Suzuki certified and  experienced instructors. Your child receives individual attention in their private lesson with a skilled teacher to help focus on his/her strengths and weaknesses, and then they apply their abilities in an encouraging, ensemble-based group class. Parent attendance is required and parent playing the instrument with the student is encouraged. Younger siblings are also encouraged to attend and observe.

Traditional Private Lessons & NYSSMA Preparation

For students who have reached a proficient performance level on their instrument or are 8 & up and beginners, private lessons are offered with one of our esteemed artist-faculty members, who can offer training for school-age students at the highest level. Students wishing to be coached for NYSSMA festivals may register for a series of private lessons throughout the year.
